German-Language Documents We Translate

We translate German-language documents issued in Germany, Austria, Switzerland (Deutschschweiz), Liechtenstein and South Tyrol (Alto Adige / Südtirol). Umlauts and ß are preserved exactly as they appear on the original (ä, ö, ü, ß), with ae / oe / ue / ss transliteration only when the source uses that legacy form. Common German document types include:

  • Birth certificates (Geburtsurkunde) from the Standesamt
  • Marriage certificates (Eheurkunde / Heiratsurkunde) and civil-partnership records
  • Divorce judgments (Scheidungsurteil / Scheidungsbeschluss) from the Familiengericht
  • Death certificates (Sterbeurkunde)
  • Police clearance: Führungszeugnis (Bundeszentralregister) and Austrian Strafregisterbescheinigung
  • School and university certificates: Abitur / Reifezeugnis, Bachelor-Zeugnis, Master-Zeugnis, Diplomzeugnis, Promotionsurkunde
  • Academic transcripts (Notenspiegel / Transcript of Records)
  • Notarial deeds (notarielle Urkunden) drawn up by a Notar
  • Court judgments (Urteile, Beschlüsse)
  • Handelsregisterauszug (HRA / HRB commercial-register extracts) for AML and corporate use
  • Employment references (Arbeitszeugnis) and salary certificates (Gehaltsbescheinigung)
  • Medical records (Arztberichte), discharge summaries (Entlassungsbriefe) and vaccination certificates (Impfpass)

German Document Formats

Germany operates a beeidigter or oeffentlich bestellter Uebersetzer system: sworn translators authorised per Land (federal state) by the competent Oberlandesgericht, whose stamped translations are self-certifying in Germany. Austria has gerichtlich beeidete Uebersetzer registered with the courts, and Switzerland operates cantonal registers. Ireland has no equivalent. For use in Ireland we produce a certified translation with a signed Statement of Accuracy.

German-speaking civil-registry documents follow strict, jurisdiction-specific layouts. A Standesamt Geburtsurkunde differs from an Austrian Geburtsurkunde and from a Swiss Zivilstandsamt Geburtsschein, all of which differ again from an EU multilingual extract. Grade scales (1,0 to 5,0 in Germany; 1 to 5 in Austria; 1 to 6 in Switzerland) and Diplom / Magister / Staatsexamen equivalences to Irish qualifications are annotated where useful.

Common Ireland use-cases: EU freedom-of-movement paperwork for German, Austrian and Swiss nationals joining Dublin's financial, engineering and pharma sectors; Stamp 4 and citizenship applications; academic recognition of Abitur / Reifepruefung / Matura and Bachelor- / Master-Zeugnisse for TCD, UCD, DCU, UCC and University of Galway admissions; Handelsregisterauszug and Notar-authenticated corporate documents for Irish AML, banking onboarding and company-registration filings; HSE-facing German medical records; Fuehrungszeugnis translations for Garda vetting and immigration paperwork.

Statement of Accuracy

What Is a Statement of Accuracy?

Ireland does not have a "sworn translator" system. Instead, certified translations carry a signed Statement of Accuracy from the translator. This statement confirms:

"I, [Translator Name], hereby certify that the above is a true, accurate and complete translation of the attached original document. Company registration: Tatkowski Interpreting & Recruitment Limited (CRO 803790). Date: [date]. Contact: contact@tatkowski.com."

No stamp or registry is required under Irish law. Where the Irish institution asks for an apostille, that step is applied to the original German document (via the Bundesverwaltungsamt for Germany, the BMEIA for Austria, or the relevant cantonal authority in Switzerland), not to our translation.

How to order

How It Works

  1. Send Your German Document

Upload via the fixed-price form above, email contact@tatkowski.com, or WhatsApp +353 83 871 0861. A clear phone photo of the original is fine, front and back if two-sided. Germany, Austria or Swiss-German format.

  2. Receive a Fixed Price

You get a per-page price and a confirmed delivery window by email. No commitment; nothing is sent to production yet.

  3. Pay Securely

Pay by Revolut, bank transfer or card via the link sent with your quote. Payment triggers production and locks the delivery window.

  4. Delivery to Your Drawer + Inbox

Your certified PDF lands in your inbox and in your tatkowski.com/my-orders client portal with a signed Statement of Accuracy. Each translation carries a reference that any ISD, court or university officer can check at tatkowski.com/validate.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a beeidigter Uebersetzer (German sworn translator) for use in Ireland?

No. Ireland does not recognise or require Germany's beeidigter Uebersetzer, Austria's gerichtlich beeideter Uebersetzer or Switzerland's cantonal sworn translators for its own procedures.

Do you translate Austrian and Swiss German documents?

Yes. We translate German-language documents from Germany, Austria, Switzerland (Deutschschweiz), Liechtenstein and South Tyrol (Alto Adige). Austrian and Swiss legal and civil-registry terminology (Bundesland vs Kanton, Zivilstandsamt vs Standesamt) is handled.

How much does German translation cost?

€39.99 per page. Fixed price, no hidden fees. B2B and large-volume enquiries are quoted separately.

How quickly can I get German documents translated?

24 hours standard for 1 to 3 pages. Prioritised delivery (12-hour aim) is €59.99 per page.

Can you translate a German Zeugnis or Handelsregisterauszug for use in Ireland?

Yes. Certified translations of Abitur / Reifezeugnis, Bachelor- and Master-Zeugnisse and academic Notenspiegel are translated for admissions to TCD, UCD, DCU, UCC and University of Galway. Handelsregisterauszug (HRA / HRB) extracts are translated for Irish banks, the Companies Registration Office and AML checks.

Is notarisation required for German translation in Ireland?

No. Notarisation is only needed when the receiving body explicitly asks for it.

Can you translate a Fuehrungszeugnis for Garda vetting or immigration?

Yes. German Fuehrungszeugnis and Austrian Strafregisterbescheinigung are translated for Garda vetting, ISD immigration paperwork and Irish employer background checks.
