Legal Translation Ireland
Legal Translation Cost in Ireland
€39.99 per page. Fixed at quote. For Irish courts, notaries, IPAT, WRC and ISD. No per-document padding, no notary surcharge, no mystery certification fee. Sworn translation, if a court or authority asks for one, is €99.99 per page.
Pricing
Every price on this page is the price you pay. Legal translation in Ireland is priced per page, not per document, not per hour, and not per line of parties involved. We do not add a certification fee, a handling fee, or a notary fee where notarisation is not required by the receiving authority.
Prices in EUR. Quote confirmed before payment. Documents over 10 pages quoted individually with an agreed timeline.
What Legal Documents We Price at €39.99/page
The €39.99/page rate applies across the full legal document category. There is no separate rate for civil, commercial, criminal, corporate, or private legal work. The document below is priced the same as any other document at the same page count and language pair.
Court and tribunal documents. Judgments and rulings from the District Court, Circuit Court, High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court. Foreign judgments filed for recognition or enforcement in Ireland (Polish sądowe, French jugements, German Urteile, Spanish sentencias, Ukrainian судові рішення, and equivalents). IPAT (International Protection Appeals Tribunal) bundles including country-of-origin material and personal statements. WRC (Workplace Relations Commission) complaint and response bundles. Family Court and childcare filings with the required schedule of documents.
Notarial and civil-status documents. Notarial acts in the source-country format (akt notarialny, act notarié, escritura pública, notarielle Urkunde, atto notarile). Powers of attorney (pełnomocnictwo, procuration, plena potestas, Vollmacht, procura). Affidavits sworn before a foreign notary. Statutory declarations made under the Statutory Declarations Act 1938. Marriage settlement deeds. Wills and probate documents including grants of representation from foreign jurisdictions.
Corporate and commercial documents. Articles of association and constitutions filed under the Companies Act 2014. Memoranda of association from pre-2014 filings still on record. Board minutes and shareholder resolutions. Commercial contracts (supply, distribution, licensing, franchising, employment) between parties in different jurisdictions. Tenders and RFP responses translated for a Revenue-compliant filing. Letters of credit. Insurance policies. IP filings including patent claims and trademark abstracts for Intellectual Property Office of Ireland (IPOI).
Immigration and enforcement case files. Full case files for Immigration Service Delivery (ISD, formerly INIS), including source-country identity documents, police clearance certificates, birth and marriage records, professional qualifications, and correspondence with foreign authorities.
What Determines the Price
Legal translation cost in Ireland comes down to five variables. Four are already priced above. The fifth (turnaround) is included in the €39.99/page rate for standard windows.
- Page count. Counted from the pages of your document; blank pages are free. A one-page notarial certificate is one page. A five-page legal opinion is five pages. Court bundles are counted by the pages to translate, not by exhibit pagination.
- Handwriting. Handwritten originals add €9.99/page for the affected pages only. Typed originals with a handwritten signature block do not attract the add-on.
- Bundling and pagination. Where the translation is destined for a court exhibit, ask when you order about court-exhibit format and we price it with your quote. Standard PDF certification with page numbering is included in the base rate.
- Legalisation chain. Whether the translation needs only a Statement of Accuracy, or a Statement of Accuracy plus apostille from DFA Consular Section, or the embassy chain for a non-Hague country, depends on the receiving authority. This is a separate legal step done by the issuing authority, not by us. If your document needs an apostille, get it apostilled first and we translate it, including the apostille.
- Turnaround. Standard turnaround (24 hours for 1 to 3 pages, 36 hours for 4 to 6 pages, 48 hours for 7 to 10 pages) is included in the €39.99/page rate. A prioritised tier is available at €59.99 per page, with a 12-hour delivery aim, subject to translator availability. Sworn translations add 24 hours to each band (48, 60 and 72 hours), and priority on a sworn translation is quoted individually. Documents over 10 pages are quoted individually with an agreed timeline the solicitor can commit to a client on.
Per-Page vs Hourly: Why We Quote Per Page
Hourly billing is the usual model for legal work: the deliverable is judgement, drafting, and advocacy, and the time each of those takes cannot be known in advance.
Certified translation is a different product. The deliverable is a translation of a document that already exists. The variable that matters is the volume of source text, not the time it takes to render. Per-page pricing lets a law firm quote the client accurately at intake, before the file has been assigned to a translator, and lets the client agree a fixed budget before the work begins.
Three consequences of that model:
- No scope creep on the invoice. The page count is fixed on the quote. If the translator finds the source runs to more pages than initially estimated, we come back with a revised quote before proceeding, not with a revised invoice after delivery.
- Confidentiality is included, not billed. The Statement of Accuracy, and an NDA where you need one, are included in the €39.99/page. We do not attach a separate certification line item.
- Comparable to the source-country model. Certified translations in Poland, France, Germany, Spain and most EU jurisdictions are priced per page (or per standardised page unit). A Polish sworn translator (tłumacz przysięgły) prices per 1125-character page. A French traducteur assermenté prices per page. Per-page pricing is the norm your source-country translator uses; we align to it.
What 'Certified' Means for Court and Notary Use in Ireland
Ireland does not maintain a state sworn-translator register in the way Spain (TIJ MAEC), France, or Poland do. There is no Irish equivalent of the Spanish traductor jurado or the Polish tłumacz przysięgły. A certified translation for use in Irish courts, before a notary, at the WRC or IPAT, or at ISD, is certified by the translator or translation service directly under the following minimum requirements:
- An accurate and complete translation of the source document, with no omission or summarisation.
- A signed Statement of Accuracy from the translator or translation service.
- The translator's or provider's name, contact address, and date.
- Where the document is a court exhibit, pagination and binding per Courts Service filing rules for the relevant court list.
- Where the source document carries an apostille or legalisation stamp, a translation of that page as part of the document.
Every certified translation we issue carries all applicable elements. The certification page shows the translator's signature, our contact address and the date.
If a court, notary or authority asks you for a sworn translation, choose Sworn: we translate and certify as usual, and the translator's declaration of accuracy is then sworn before a solicitor or Commissioner for Oaths. Sworn is €99.99 per page and is delivered within 48 hours for 1 to 3 pages, 60 hours for 4 to 6 pages, and 72 hours for 7 pages or more.
How to Order (Our Process)
Four steps from upload to certified legal translation delivered.
Upload or WhatsApp
Send a scan or photo of the document. Our SmartQuote reads the source language, page count, and handwriting, then returns a fixed price in seconds. You can also WhatsApp the file for a human-quoted price and confirmed timeline.
Confirm and Pay
The quote shows page count, add-ons, delivery format, and turnaround window. You confirm and pay by card, or B2B accounts are invoiced. Your order gets an order reference that tracks it from queue to delivery and appears on the invoice.
We Translate and Certify
A translator produces the translation and checks names, dates, numbers, parties, statute references, and legal terms against the source. The Statement of Accuracy is attached with translator name, signature, contact details, and date.
Delivery
You receive the certified PDF by email within the agreed window (24 hours for 1 to 3 pages, 36 for 4 to 6, 48 for 7 to 10). If you added a hard copy, we post it by An Post.
Honest Price Comparison
Our €39.99/page is the price you pay.
What you should be careful about when comparing legal translation quotes in Ireland:
- 'Starting from' pricing. A price shown as 'from €29/page' may have a minimum order fee, a certification surcharge, or a court-exhibit fee that appears at checkout. Ours is €39.99/page, add-ons published above.
- Per-document quotes without a page count. A '€180 for a court judgment' is fine if the judgment is four pages. If it runs to nine pages, the extra will be silently added on the invoice. We always show the page count on the quote before you pay.
- Notarisation surcharges. A certified translation for Irish courts or Irish notarial use does not require the translator to notarise. If a provider adds a €30 to €50 notary fee by default, ask what receiving authority requires it before agreeing.
- Turnaround claims on 15+ page bundles. 'Same-day' is meaningful for a two-page notarial extract. It is a marketing line on a 15-page cross-border acquisition bundle. Ask for the written turnaround commitment before the order is placed, not after.
- Hourly quotes disguised as flat. A quote of '€250 for a short legal document' with no page count is priced at the translator's estimated hour. If the document takes longer than estimated, the invoice can move up. Per-page pricing removes this risk.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does legal translation cost in Ireland?
€39.99 per translated page for standard legal documents (court judgments, notarial acts, powers of attorney, articles of association, contracts, affidavits, statutory declarations). A page is one page of your document, as you upload it. Handwritten pages add €9.99. A hard copy delivered by post is €19.99 flat for the whole order. If a court or authority asks for a sworn translation (the translator's declaration sworn before a solicitor or Commissioner for Oaths), Sworn is €99.99 per page, with the same add-ons. Prices are fixed at quote and do not change on the invoice.
What if I need a translation for court in Ireland?
Ireland does not require sworn translator registration in the Spanish, French or Polish sense. If a court or authority asks you for a sworn translation, choose Sworn: the translator's declaration of accuracy is sworn before a solicitor or Commissioner for Oaths, at €99.99 per page, delivered 24 hours later than certified.
Do you translate court judgments and notarial acts?
Yes. Court judgments from any jurisdiction (Polish sądowe, French jugements, German Urteile, Spanish sentencias, Ukrainian судові рішення) and notarial acts (akt notarialny, act notarié, escritura pública, notarielle Urkunde) are translated. Certified at €39.99 per page. Where the source is a scanned older notarial act with handwriting, the +€9.99 handwriting add-on applies to the affected pages only.
What is a Statement of Accuracy?
A Statement of Accuracy is a signed declaration by the translator that the translation is a full and true rendering of the source document. It carries the translator's signature, our contact address and the date. If your document needs an apostille, get it apostilled first and we translate it, including the apostille.
What about apostille for corporate filings?
We do not provide or arrange apostilles. In Ireland the apostille is issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (Consular Section) in Dublin under the 1961 Hague Convention; for company filings destined for a non-Hague jurisdiction, embassy legalisation replaces the apostille. If your document needs an apostille, get it apostilled first and we translate it, including the apostille.
Can law firms have a B2B account?
Per-job B2C orders are paid at €39.99/page listed rate. Law firms can have a B2B account: invoiced to the firm, with round-number pricing. Same translation quality, same certification format, same turnaround windows. The commercial framing changes; the product does not.
What is a page and how do you count it for a court bundle?
A page is one page of your document, as you upload it. A one-page notarial certificate is one page. A five-page judgment is five pages. For court bundles we count the pages to translate, not the exhibit pagination.
Can you translate simultaneously into English and another language?
Yes, on request, for parallel filings (for example, a Polish notarial act translated into English for the Irish court and into French for a co-defendant in Belgium). Each language pair is quoted separately at €39.99/page. Turnaround runs in parallel where translators are available; we confirm the delivery window before you pay.
